People tend to get along best with those whom they feel are like them -- who have a shared interest. So, one of the best things you can do to "cast a wider net" is to have more experiences which will make it more likely that your interests will intersect with another person.

Thanks for the comment!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16002693445478814049noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5013655459241216224.post-18492915598731613492010-10-26T12:22:50.694-04:002010-10-26T12:22:50.694-04:00Greg, these could be tips for teachers as well. Si...Greg, these could be tips for teachers as well. Since I'm a special ed teacher, I have to "push in" to general ed classes w/ my kiddos. This allows me to see a variety of teaching styles and very often I see teachers talking AT students instead of TO them. They tend to not listen to the kid's reponse or fail to ask the kid questions in the first place. I am always trying to get to know students and find out an interest that might somehow relate to an interest of mine. It's amazing how happy some kids are when you follow up with them on an issue!TeacherPattihttp://palateofpatti.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.com
